Hello and Welcome!

Hello!

I am Cassandra (Cassie) and I am an oddball.

Let me explain.

I am from the Sonoran Desert and moved to Maine a few years ago to figure out all the hype around things like running water, snow, trees - even beaches. I’m an ex-history teacher for Middle schoolers, so I’ve taught everything from pre-history to current events and everything in between. The best part about that is learning all that I DON’T know, and filling in those gaps as I go. Once upon a time, I would make 8th graders read the original text of the American Constitution, while LARPing building their own coalition of governments designed around countries THEY built. And then I would go to war with them. 6th Graders once fake-mummified a student, researching Amarna style mummification techniques, and 7th graders would simulate the battle of the Somme using tile-squares on the floor for movement and dice to roll for initiative.

And I miss it - but something has told me that I am going to be doing something else.

My new dream? Build a subscription based makerspace to inspire others to learn from history and create. See, we can all sit here an doom-scroll on social media all day, but wouldn’t it be way more fun if we could find ways to connect and build? Things that will allow us to collaborate within our communities, building resilience through overcoming mechanical challenges to resolve modern challenges through rediscovering what the ancients knew?

So here we are: a weirdo with a dream to build out work-space in 5 stages and to allow folks to dabble in a whole host of things to figure out their passions and maybe learn something. Also? I get to learn in the process from everyone I meet!
